Rumors have it that Duterte was allegedly responsible for more than 1,000 extrajudicial killings through his “death squad”.

Ironically, despite his previous notable remarks during his election campaign that he would execute 100,000 more criminals nationwide and then dump their remains in Manila Bay, he was still elected by the people.

In his speech, Duterte assured that his being a lawyer and a former prosecutor, he is quite familiar with his limits of power and authority as President. He further guaranteed that he knows what is legal and what is not. Thus, his adherence to due process and the rule of law will be uncompromising.

While others acknowledged Duterte’s comments, others expressed their cautious acceptance.

Duterte – the country’s 16th President will take the country’s highest position in the palace for six years.

So far, in his first week, President Duterte has already appointed several of his cabinet members who were said to be experienced economic advisers.
