Travellers Once Again Name Palawan as the ‘Best in the World’ for the Third Time

For the third time in a row, the Philippines’ pride, Palawan, has been crowned as the best island across the globe.

The Philippines’ idyllic island, Palawan, which comprises of 1,800 neighboring islets, claimed the highest spot once again in Travel & Leisure magazine’s honors.

This urban, romantic paradise, with towering mountains, limestone caves and crystal-clear waters absolutely set this exotic island very incomparable. However, it is its five-mile stretch of Underground River, which is one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Site, really makes this place the most outstanding.

Travel + Leisure’s annual awards based their verdict from their readers’ response on their top travel experiences across the globe – and fortunately, for the third year, Palawan Island has once again claimed the highest rank.

It was in 2013 and 2016 when Travel + Leisure voted Palawan as the best island in the world.

Generally, the islands are evaluated on activities, tourist attractions, natural wonders, foods, friendliness, beaches and over-all worth.

Thanks to the three Hollywood blockbuster movies – The Bourne Legacy, The Beach and The World Is Not Enough, Palawan also rose to stardom since then.

Moreover, due to its distant situation, located on the southern tip of the Philippines, just north of Malaysia, the island has been referred to as the “last frontier”.
